چکیده

Abstract Objectives Dental caries is a multifactorial infectious disease caused by the colonization and proliferation of bacteria in mouth. Recently, it has been reported that local antioxidant oxidant status may play an important role pathogenesis dental caries. Visfatin adipocytokine enhances leukocyte activation release proinflammatory cytokines. In this study, our aim was to investigate salivary visfatin levels, total capacity (TAC), (TOS) patients with without Methods Saliva samples were collected from 50 caries-free individuals 115 who admitted Selcuk University Restorative Dentistry Clinics. based on stimulated saliva collection procedure. levels measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Spectrophotometric methods used determine TAC TOS. Results Salivary TAC, TOS, statistically higher compared group (p=0.035; p=0.003; p<0.001 respectively). There positive correlation between number TOS levels. Conclusions Findings prospective study demonstrated oxidative stress be involved visfatin, novel markers evaluate

Total oxidant status, total antioxidant capacity and ischemia modified albumin levels in children with celiac disease.

In our study, we aimed to investigate ischemia modified albumin (IMA) as an oxidative stress marker, as well as other oxidant and antioxidant markers that have not been evaluated in children with celiac disease. A total of 37 pediatric patients who were diagnosed with celiac disease (CD) and 29 healthy children were enrolled in this prospective study. We evaluated the IMA, total oxidant status,...

Total antioxidant capacity of saliva and dental caries

OBJECTIVE Dental caries is one of the most common infectious diseases worldwide. Saliva has many functions in the oral cavity and is the first line defense against dental caries. Oxidative stress can affect initiation and progression of many inflammatory and infectious diseases such as dental caries. Thus the aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between total antioxidant capacity ...

Investigating the relationship between Dietary total antioxidant capacity and depression and anxiety in Iranian adults

Background & Objective: Although several studies are available linking individual dietary antioxidants to the risk of psychological disorders, data about the association of dietary total antioxidant capacity (TAC) with depression and anxiety are scarce. This study was conducted to investigate the association between dietary TAC and odds of depression and anxiety among Iranian adults. Material &...

Total Oxidant Status, Total Antioxidant Status, and Paraoxonase and Arylesterase Activities during Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

INTRODUCTION Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the gold standard for the treatment of gallstone disease; however, adverse hemodynamic changes induced by increased intraabdominal pressure due to pneumoperitoneum are known to occur. Herein, we investigated the effects of pneumoperitoneum on oxidative stress markers, including paraoxonase, arylesterase, total oxidant status, and total antioxidant st...
